Adventuring in the national forests of Colorado is an experience on many people’s bucket list. Between incredible views that many travelers don’t get to see, to creating unforgettable memories with friends and family, to having a blast driving a kind of machine that may be brand new, taking an ATV into the woods promises a fun-filled time for all. The last thing anyone wants on their mind is the “what-ifs” - what if I pop a tire? What if we see something cool on trail or make it up a challenging route and don’t remember to pull out the camera? What if my flight is delayed on my way to Estes Park and I miss the 48 hour cancellation window? With so many opportunities for things to go awry, this week, we are talking all about “extras” and why adding them to your adventure might just save your trip.
Picture this: you’re in the airport, anxiously awaiting your flight to Colorado where your dream vacation is finally out of the group chat and happening in real life. Suddenly, Mother Nature throws a wrench in your plans and delays your flight for a few hours, half a day, or longer (we’ve all been there). Now, you’re worried about missing your reservation at Backbone Adventures because of the 48 hour cancellation policy. If you added trip cancellation protection to your booking, you don’t have to worry about a missed connection or weather delay - you can cancel your booking up to two hours before the check in time and receive a full refund minus the $35 trip cancellation protection fee! This peace of mind is well worth it for folks traveling with a short window between leaving home and arriving for your booking.
Tow vehicle insurance is an option that only applies to folks using the truck-and-trailer ATV option. The tow vehicle already comes with a daily deductible of $1500, as do all Polaris rentals, so this insurance covers any damage over that deductible, including if the tow vehicle is totaled. We recommend this for most folks, but if you have full-coverage insurance that covers rental vehicles, you can go that route instead. For those without full coverage insurance, or for those who don’t want to hassle with using their insurance and increasing their premiums, the $30 tow vehicle insurance is a great option.
Tire insurance is another available add-on for those who are worried about potential tire damage, and for good reason - replacing a popped tire will run you $175 per tire without the insurance. This is the Rocky Mountains, after all, and there will be rocks on the trail. Protect your peace of mind by adding the $25 tire protection to your booking and rest assured that all 4 tires will be covered if something should happen out on trail!
The last two options to include in your booking are goggles and GoPros. Goggles can be essential when riding with a group in more than one machine especially - it gets dusty, muddy, and dirty out there (one of the reasons we love it!). Don’t let some dirt in your eyes ruin the fun, and definitely don’t bring your ski goggles and get them dirty and possibly scratched. At only $5 per pair, adding on goggles can significantly improve your experience!
GoPros can help capture the memory when you’re too busy having fun to want to pull out your phone and get it dirty trying to get your adventure on film. Adding a GoPro to your UTV or Jeep rental allows it to do the work for you in capturing the beautiful views, crazy climbs, and more while you enjoy the ride! Riding alone? Add a GoPro and stay hands-free while still enjoying every second of the ride. The best part? We’ll send you off with the SD card of your trip and an adapter so you can relive the fun at home. For $49, you can have the memory of your forest adventure forever!
We know that you want to have the best time ever out on the trail, so these extra options are available to ensure your peace of mind while you’re out having fun. Folks who want that extra layer of security, whether for traveling or while out on the trail, will find that security in these options. Ultimately, we want to make sure that you are able to have the adventure of your dreams, and these options are just another way Backbone Adventures strives to make that happen for your crew!
